Dear Grandparents:
First and foremost, I’d like to start by saying how thankful I am for your support as I study here at SUNY Oswego. The community on campus is extremely welcoming and inviting that it’s difficult to feel lost or bored. Every day there are on-campus activities where I get to socialize, meet my peers and volunteer to help the community. I’ve attended food drives, Lakers hockey games, art exhibitions and even hot yoga. This campus provides so much support in order to succeed academically, socially and career wise. Even if I’m feeling overwhelmed, there are support groups almost daily for anyone to attend. The Oswego Today daily e-mail assures that students are aware of the events on campus, I can forward that to you so you may be able to see all of the activities as well. Being involved in all of these different activities is allowing me to get a feel for what I enjoy and would like to pursue as a career. I am getting to know myself as both a student and as an individual. You’d be glad to know that since Oswego is passionate about closeness and familiarity, my academic advisor will remain the same individual throughout my entire time here. Therefore, I won’t ever have to question my progress and/or what’s next as I advance in my studies. It’s relieving to not feel as another invisible student, but actually feeling like I matter here.
